“Everything feels good – from the general vibes to the fabrics, music and art photography on the walls – it is all carefully thought out. The cosmic black and gold mannequins have a way of marking your psyche for days, they are like nothing I have seen before.”
It has been an incredible 2015 and I could not have asked for a better way to start the new year, other than standing inside of the beautiful new sparkling KASPACE in Toronto. I know every letter, word, paragraph and edited parts of this story and the fact that this space is born is a testament to true faith, hard work and believing in one’s dreams.
It has been years (6 years to be exact) of listening to my other half tell me about this vision he has; a vision of creating a space that redefines the way retail is created. You see, he knew since the very inception of KA Magazine in 2009, that he would eventually bring the pages of this publication to life within a live experiential space – where the visitor could taste, touch, feel, listen, read, wear and just be in this good vibes environment of beauty, art, inspiration and fashion with a single thread linking it all – mindfulness and ethical lifestyle.
“What I loved about the hotel is it’s boutique style, a more intimate feeling to a large hotel. The staff is kind and laid back and the property is bathed in white, with accents of wood, green, sand and orange.”
South Beach is a cool place right…all the sun bathers, great cocktails, over-indulgence and late night partying. But what a little bit of calm and wellness, detox and purification? Although Bali might be the first place you think of when self-care is concerned, Miami’s Royal Palm Hotel might also be a shorter plane ride option.
I love solid black and white. It is clean, and my eyes are never compromised by the distraction of colour or print. I could wear black or white everyday…if fact I almost always do – except for the off jeans or grey piece here and there. I was going through some inspiration images and felt they should be posted to create some eye wash. Why not.
I am in the middle of designing my home office as I’ve just recently relocated to Toronto. As much as I try to hold back the enormous urge to fall for black and white…and mostly white, there is nothing in me that is powerful enough to withstand the pressure. So here I am, with my inspiration – black and white…oh, but with a touch of green of course. Photography is missing on the walls, so I am excited to choose what images from the most recent issues of KA Magazine or Cityguide that I will turn into…black and white. Ah! I can’t escape it.
